A panel that never appeared

It is not
showing. Here
is why.

This page is about a panel that has never appeared. If you had one and it vanished, that is a different problem with a different fix, and it is not this page.

There are four reasons a name returns nothing, and they need completely different work. Working out which one you are in is worth doing before spending money, because two of the four cannot be fixed by hiring anybody.

Working out which one you are in

Search your name in a private window

Signed out, no personalisation. Note whether anything appears at all, and whether the results are about you or about somebody else with your name.

Search your name plus your city or your employer

If a panel appears here and not on the bare name, you are almost certainly in case two: the file exists and the plain name has not been assigned to it yet.

Count the other people

If the first page of results holds two or more different people with your name, you are in case three and the job changes shape.

Open your five most visible profiles side by side

Compare the spelling, the job title, the photograph and the dates. Any disagreement puts you in case four, which is worth fixing regardless of the others.

Decide honestly whether anybody else has written about you

Not you writing. Somebody else, on their own site, naming you. If the answer is nobody, you are in case one and no consultant can shortcut it.

One: the file does not exist yet

The most common case by a distance. Google has pages that mention you and nothing it is willing to state as fact, so there is nothing to display.

This is not a display problem and no setting will change it. It is an evidence problem, and the fix is the slow one: get independent sources saying consistent things about you until Google has enough to open a file.

Two: the file exists but the name does not reach it

This one surprises people. The file is live and answers when its reference number is searched, and typing the plain name brings back nothing.

That means Google has not yet decided your file is the main answer for that particular name. It is genuine progress and it looks identical to failure from the outside, which is why we publish four of our own records sitting in exactly this state.

The fix here is patience plus more of the same evidence, not a change of approach.

Three: somebody else owns the name

If another person with your name is more written about, Google prefers their file. You are not competing for a panel any more; you are competing to be the default meaning of a word, which is a longer and more expensive job.

Sometimes the honest answer is to differentiate instead: use a middle initial consistently, or a fuller form of the name, everywhere, and build the file under that.

Four: the sources contradict each other

Two spellings, three job titles, four photographs and a biography that changes by site. Every disagreement is a reason for a machine to stay unsure, and unsure means no file gets opened even when the underlying material is strong.

This is the cheapest of the four to fix and the most commonly ignored, because tidying up old profiles feels like admin rather than strategy.

Questions

How long should I wait before assuming something is wrong?

Six to twelve months from the point the evidence is actually in place. Waiting is not the same as waiting after the work, and most people are counting from the wrong date.

Does having a website help?

It helps once other things exist, because it gives Google somewhere to check facts against. On its own it does nothing. Your own website is not independent evidence about you.

Can I ask Google to create one?

No. There is no request form and no support queue for this. The claim process only exists once a panel is already showing.

I have a lot of followers and still nothing.

Follower counts are not something Google can verify against an independent source, so they carry no weight here. This is the single most common surprise on a first call.

If you want this handled

Three thousand dollars flat, half at the start and half only when there is something live to show you. Six to twelve months is the honest window, and about a third of the people who ask are told not to proceed.
